Ana Robinson, PT, DPT, OCS was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, where she grew up as a cross-country skier and ultimately a collegiate soccer player. Her connection to the outdoors and passion for a healthy lifestyle were inspired by her father and grandfather, who led the family in tennis, golf, hiking, paddling in the BWCAW, bird hunting, clay pigeon shooting, and unnecessarily competitive Sunday evening family croquet matches.
Always drawn to the sciences, Ana knew early on that she wanted to become a physical therapist. She earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the College of St. Scholastica in 2005, followed by her transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Regis University and completed her Orthopedic Residency through Evidence in Motion in 2009.
Ana is a board-certified orthopedic physical therapist with more than 20 years of experience specializing in complex orthopedic and sports-related injuries. She served as the Foot & Ankle Lead at Howard Head Sports Medicine (HHSM) in Vail, CO for over 17 years. One of her proudest roles was serving as faculty in both the Orthopedic and Sports Residency Programs.
At HHSM has collaborated extensively with world-renowned foot and ankle surgeons, including Drs. Thomas Clanton, C. Thomas Haytmanek, and John Backus. Together, they have advanced best practices by a shared passion in treating the foot ankle, and in practice, integrating evidence-based approach to the treatment orthopedic conditions, repeat objective testing, and clear interdisciplinary communication around recovery and return to sport testing. We keep close to the heart that an injury is a major life event for the patient, and as such, we take it upon ourselves as healthcare providers to ensure the journey of recovery and communication between providers is seamless, with the patient at the center.
Throughout Ana’s career she has learned that bringing in the strength and conditioning coach and team coach in the post injury rehabilitation journey is the key to success for the patient both mentally and physically. Strength and conditioning is the final step to recovery, return to sport and injury prevention. She admires the GOAT Team and their steady, reliable, evidence-based approach to strength and conditioning, coaching, and consistent support for the community they have created. Having learned much from their methods—enhancing the care and performance outcomes she offers her patients—she embraces this transition with pride and the feeling of leaving one family to join another.
Ana enjoys mountain biking, trail running, hunting and fishing with her husband Duncan and 2 kids Louie and Britta.
